Fred Crofton, in the late 1890's, as a farm labourer on Jack Scovell's 160 acres at the head of Ganges Harbour. This was the land Fred later purchased from his employer (a close friend of Fred's father). On the right is the house that became the Crofton family's farmhouse home, called Harbour House. More than a decade later it became the Harbour House Hotel. This building was eventually destroyed in a fire in the early 1970's.
